The Canadian Red Cross says disaster responses have shifted dramatically in recent years. What was once mainly house fires and the occasional storm has become year-round deployments for floods, wildfires, tornadoes and hurricanes.
To help residents prepare, the Town of Carleton Place is hosting a 72-Hour Emergency Preparedness session on Wednesday, September 24, from 6:00 to 7:30 p.m. at the Carleton Place Public Library, 101 Beckwith Street.
The session will cover how to make a family emergency plan, identify risks in the community, and build a 72-hour kit.
Residents can register by emailing hsinnett@carletonplace.ca.
