Lanark County Council has approved key updates to its Consolidated Traffic By-Law to improve road safety and traffic flow in local communities.
The changes include extending the Community Safety Zone on CR#23 Rosedale Road South to cover the new 22-acre Montague Park property, protecting pedestrians near Montague Public School.
Speed zones on CR#12 McDonalds Corners Road in Elphin have been adjusted, with the 60 km/h zone extended 90 meters east and radar speed signs installed to slow traffic in the residential area.
On CR#10 North Street, speed zones were realigned, shifting 50 km/h and 60 km/h limits west to remove a long stretch through undevelopable land.
“These changes reflect our commitment to safer roads and responsive traffic management,” said Sean Derouin, Director of Public Works.
The Ontario Provincial Police supported transitional speed zones to improve enforceability.
Implementation costs will be covered within the current budget, with ongoing monitoring to assess effectiveness.
