The hope is to get the flows restored to the Tay Canal (Google Maps)
The Friends of the Tay Watershed are calling on residents to roll up their sleeves for a major community clean-up of the Tay River this Saturday, Sept. 20.
The event runs from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m., rain or shine, and will cover the stretch of river between Glen Tay and Perth.
Volunteers can choose to help out on the water or lend a hand from the shore. Organizers say both roles are equally important to protecting the river’s health.
The clean-up is open to people of all ages, and no special skills are required.
Participants are encouraged to sign up in advance here.
