The Mississippi Valley Conservation Authority (MVCA) will recommend creating a Working Group to explore whether there is a financially sustainable way to keep the R. Tait McKenzie and James Naismith collections at the Mill of Kintail Conservation Area.
A draft transition plan gives time to study options and reflects MVCA’s commitment to honoring McKenzie and Naismith — both internationally recognized figures and proud sons of Mississippi Mills. The Authority has managed the collections for many years and says it remains dedicated to preserving their legacy.
To provide clarity, MVCA has updated the museum’s web page with key documents, Frequently Asked Questions, and a timeline of events since 2019. The site also now includes the results of Mississippi Mills’ 2023 consultations with local museums, as well as the July 2025 Board report outlining financial challenges.
The MVCA Board Chair and the General Manager will attend a Mississippi Mills Council meeting on October 7.
Public feedback from a recent survey will be presented, along with recommended next steps, at MVCA’s Board of Directors meeting on October 20, 2025.
Those interested in attending in person or remotely can email khollington@mvc.on.ca
