Smiths Falls Police Chief Jodi Empey intends to make a formal request for officer body cameras.

In this age of policing, Empey said it’s a critical piece of equipment most police services already have.
Empey’s piecing together pricing to later present a full report to the police board, but an early estimate comes in at $225,000 over five years.
She’s looking into securing a “bundle package,” which would include the costs of the body cameras, the cameras which already exist in their cruisers, and the storage and processing the accompanying data.
