The national strike by the Canadian Union of Postal Workers has stopped Canada Post mail and parcel delivery across the country, leaving many residents and businesses scrambling.
The Town of Smiths Falls says important municipal documents, including utility bills and property tax notices, could be delayed if residents rely on regular mail. To avoid disruptions, the town is urging people to sign up for e-billing.
E-billing provides fast, secure delivery of statements directly by email. It also helps reduce paper waste. To register, residents can visit smithsfalls.ca/e-billing and use their PIN number, available on past bills or by contacting the town.
Officials note late payments will still face interest penalties based on the due date, regardless of strike delays.
The town says switching to e-billing ensures continuous service, instant access to statements, and avoids headaches during the postal disruption.
