The Perth and Smiths Falls District Hospital’s Workplace Wellness Committee has turned casual Fridays into community support, donating $150 to Queer Connection Lanark for its Pride and Diversity, Equity and Inclusion initiatives.
The donation came from the hospital’s weekly Denim Day fundraiser, where staff contribute to wear jeans at work. In June, during Pride Month, all funds collected were dedicated to local Pride efforts and inclusive youth programming.
In late August, Mackenzie Richardson, chair of the Workplace Wellness Committee, presented the cheque to Elizabeth Snyder, a representative of Queer Connection Lanark.
“We’re honoured to support the work Queer Connection Lanark is doing to create a more inclusive and welcoming community,” said Richardson.
Snyder expressed gratitude for the hospital team’s contribution, noting the positive impact it will have on youth and residents. The committee thanked staff for helping turn a small gesture into meaningful community support.
