Smiths Falls Councillor Dawn Quinn has had her pay suspended for 2 weeks after violating the town’s code of conduct.
Quinn failed to declare a conflict of interest when voting on a community grant on the Davidson Courtyard Shops, where she owns a retail store.
Quinn took particular issue with the complaint process.
Quinn said she’d rather have had the complainant speak to her as opposed to going through these proceedings.
Councillor Chris McGuire suggested Quinn undergo additional training around the town’s code of conduct but that didn’t garner enough support.
Quinn called the investigation a waste of time and taxpayer money, seemingly disputing the breach.
Clerk Kerry Costello said the investigation cost $2,500.
