The Smiths Falls Police Service is getting a major boost to tackle rising crime and strengthen community safety. The province announced new funding of nearly $300,000 to help the local service respond to growing incidents of sexual violence, harassment, and retail theft.
The Smiths Falls Police Services Board will also receive over $60,000 to expand community outreach and engagement programs. Chief of Police Jodi Empey said the “Taking Aim on Crime for a Safer Smiths Falls Community” initiative focuses on preventing intimate partner violence and retail theft through collaboration with local agencies.
MPP John Jordan said the investment is part of Ontario’s Community Safety and Policing Grant Program, which supports 127 projects across the province in 2025–26.
Solicitor General Michael Kerzner said the funding will help police services address local issues and strengthen community well-being through targeted, proactive programs.
