A fire department staffing study was presented to Carleton Place council, calling for a substantial increase in the number of full-time and volunteer firefighters. Consultant Chris Burke reported that weekend service was of particular concern.
He provided the Canadian standard for fire-service response times in Carleton Place, a community considered urban due to its population density.
He had several recommendations to improve Carleton Place’s Fire Department including adding new staff.
Carleton Place council’s committee voted to accept the report without any action at this time.
