Smiths Falls will be getting two veteran memorial crosswalks.
They’ll be bookending the Smiths Falls Legion Branch 95, with the crosswalks located at Main and Beckwith Street, and Main and Market St.
Councillor Peter McKenna expressed full support.
The crosswalks will be painted ahead of Remembrance Day.
Committee Chair Ken Manwell says there was some thoughts going into the design.
The crosswalks will feature two maple leaves with English in French writing, “In honour of those who served and sacrificed.”
The legion’s also requested the renaming of the roadway approaching Confederation Bridge to be renamed to “Veterans Way.”
Town staff said they’ll look into the road renaming process and come back with a report.
