New Local Flavours directory makes it easier than ever to find farm-fresh food this fall
As the fall harvest reaches its peak, FoodCore Leeds-Grenville-Lanark (FoodCore LGL) has launched Local Flavours, an updated directory designed to help residents and visitors discover fresh, local food.
Its perfect for people who have been buying Canadian and shopping local thanks to the recent wave of patriotism. But spokesperson Ramsey Hart says for the organization, it’s nothing new.
Hart says the project features an online map and printed brochure listing the best spots to enjoy local product.
While visiting the website, Hart says there’s an abundance of local food information.
Copies of the directory have been distributed to municipal offices, tourism centres, and local food businesses, while the interactive map Hart mentioned is available at FoodCoreLGL.ca.
Residents are reminded to contact farms in advance before visiting unless farm gate sales are listed.
Supported by Lanark County the updated directory builds on the original Lanark Local Flavour map created by EcoPerth.
FoodCore LGL is a regional coalition working to build a resilient local food system where everyone has access to healthy food, farmers and producers can thrive, and communities celebrate food and farming as part of everyday life.
