A short police response near a Perth probation office led to a hold and secure at The Stewart Public School on October 9.
Lanark County OPP said a 42-year-old man left the nearby probation office before officers arrived, crossed the street to the school, and asked staff to call police.
He fled on foot moments later and was arrested a few blocks away within three minutes.
Police said the man faces charges of failing to comply with probation and arson after damage was reported to a washroom at the probation office. No offences occurred at the school, and no students were involved.
The school went into hold and secure after staff realized the man was not a parent. The precaution lasted about ten minutes.
The Upper Canada District School Board said all elementary visitors must use an intercom and identify themselves before entering.
