Tay Valley Township is asking residents to share their experiences to help improve accessibility in the community. Under the Accessibility for Ontarians with Disabilities Act, 2005 (AODA), municipalities must identify, remove, and prevent barriers for people with disabilities.
The township is preparing its five-year Integrated Accessibility Plan, which sets out goals and actions to make services and facilities more accessible. Officials say public feedback, especially from people with disabilities, is essential to ensure the plan addresses real-life challenges.
Residents can participate through an online survey, helping the township understand what works and where improvements are needed. Township staff say the survey is simple to complete and will guide the municipality’s efforts to create a more inclusive environment.
The survey is available online here.
Residents are encouraged to respond and make their voices heard before the plan is finalized.
