The Perth & District Union Public Library’s second floor is getting a fresh new look. Beginning November 24, the existing linoleum tile will be removed and replaced with carpet tile to create a more comfortable and durable space for patrons.
CEO Erika Heesen says the project has been a long time coming and is being funded through library reserves. The second floor will be closed to the public from November 24, 2025, to January 18, 2026, while the work is completed.
The main floor will remain open, with a temporary children’s area set up in the downstairs Common Room. The library will be fully closed November 24–25 and December 8–10 during flooring removal.
Due dates for children’s and teen books will be extended until January 18, and patrons are encouraged to stock up before the closure.
The library is also seeking volunteers to help pack and move books and shelving between December 1–5 and December 22–January 2. Those interested can contact Emily Fournier at efournier@perthunionlibrary.ca
by November 8 for details.
