Perth and Smiths Falls have both announced their fall yard waste collection plans as residents prepare for winter.
In Perth, the annual leaf collection program begins Monday, November 17 at 7 a.m. Leaves must be placed in paper bags only, as plastic bags will not be collected. All bags should be at the curb by Monday morning, with town crews picking them up throughout the week. Residents can also drop off leaves at the Perth Landfill during regular hours. The town reminds residents not to rake leaves onto the street or mix them with branches or debris.
Smiths Falls’ annual Yard Waste and Brush Collection program also begins November 17. Brush—up to four inches (10 cm) in diameter—should be placed neatly at the backside of the curb or sidewalk by 7 a.m., with pickup running November 17–21. Bagged leaf collection follows on November 21 only, completed by Glenview Iron and Metal. Leaves must be in brown compostable paper bags.
Both towns encourage residents to check their municipal websites for full schedules and guidelines.
