Winter parking restrictions are about to take effect across Lanark County, and local drivers are being urged to plan ahead to avoid fines and towing.
In Perth, overnight parking is banned on all town streets from 12:01 a.m. to 6 a.m. starting November 20 until March 31. The rule helps snowplows clear roads safely and efficiently overnight.
Smiths Falls’ winter parking ban begins November 15 and continues until March 31. Vehicles left on streets or in town lots between midnight and 7 a.m. risk tickets or towing.
Carleton Place’s restrictions also begin on November 15th and run through April 1 with no on-street parking allowed between midnight and 7 a.m. Violators may be ticketed or towed. Several designated lots—including Riverside Park and Carleton Junction—are available for overnight parking.
Residents are reminded to drive carefully, slow down, and give snowplows room to work.
