The Perth & District Union Public Library presented their Community Needs Assessment to Council at their recent committee meeting.
The report highlighted the library’s strengths and areas for improvement. It revealed that patrons highly value the library’s staff, physical collection, and welcoming public space. Key areas for enhancement include expanding the physical collection, increasing library space, hiring additional staff, and offering more diverse programming.
Comparative statistics provided show the library’s collection size and physical space are below average for libraries serving similar populations, and staffing levels are among the lowest.
Councillors voted to receive the report without discussion.
