Smiths Falls Police Chief Jodi Empey praised investigators for making four arrests on first-degree murder charges following the discovery of missing men Robbie Thomson and Giles Dagenais in quick order late last month.
Thomson was reported missing in October 2023, and human remains uncovered during a property search in Montague Township later confirmed his identity.
The chief said she contacted members of Thomson’s family to offer her condolences on behalf of the police service.
Soon after, police laid a first-degree murder charge in connection to the July 2023 homicide of Dagenais.
Empey says investigations continue into the missing person investigations of Lawrence Bertrim and Steven Tate.
The OPP are offering a $50,000 reward for information leading to an arrest in the Bertrim file, while police still seek answers after Tate’s body was discovered on Highway 15, five days after he was reported missing in 2023.
