The Town of Smiths Falls is launching a major upgrade to its residential water system as crews begin replacing older water meters across the community.
The work is being done by Neptune Technology Group, which has been contracted by the Town to install new, more accurate meters.
Residents will first receive an introductory letter from the Town. If their meter needs replacing, Neptune will send a second letter with instructions. Officials stress that not all homes will require a new meter, and residents are asked not to contact Neptune until they receive their notification.
The upgraded meters will provide more accurate readings, detect leaks earlier, and support better water conservation.
The Town says the program comes at no cost to homeowners, and participation is required under By-Law 8712-2014.
The replacement project is part of Smiths Falls’ ongoing effort to modernize local infrastructure and improve service for residents.
