A 17-year-old student suffered minor injuries after being struck by a vehicle in Elgin, prompting charges against a local driver.
Leeds County OPP say the collision happened just after 11 a.m. on Wednesday, Nov. 19, when a vehicle travelling on Main Street hit the teen outside a nearby school. Police say the driver left the scene before officers arrived.
OPP members quickly located the suspect vehicle in the area and began an investigation.
As a result, a 76-year-old Elgin resident has been charged under the Highway Traffic Act with careless driving and failing to remain at the scene.
The accused was released and is scheduled to appear in Provincial Offences Court in Brockville at a later date.
