United Way East Ontario has named Rachael Wilson as its new President and CEO, with her term beginning January 12, 2026. Wilson brings 25 years of nonprofit experience and is widely known for her leadership, community partnerships and work to build more inclusive services across the region.
Wilson most recently served as CEO of the Ottawa Food Bank, guiding the organization through major growth and helping lead the city-wide Poverty Reduction Strategy. Her work brought together partners across housing, employment, food systems and social services.
United Way board chair Thom Donnelly called Wilson an award-winning leader and a strong communicator who has “driven meaningful impact” and understands the issues facing local communities.
Wilson said she is honoured to take on the role at a time when residents are relying on strong advocacy and long-term solutions. She said United Way’s work in housing, financial stability, mental wellness and community-building offers “hope for a future where everyone can reach their full potential.”
Interim CEO Dennise Taylor-Gilhen will move into an advisory role.
