Carleton Place is imposing new parking restrictions on Neelin Street following concerns from the Lanark County Paramedic Service about congestion affecting ambulance access. Increased traffic, linked to changes in hospital parking, has made it more difficult for emergency vehicles to exit their bays quickly.
Currently, parking is already prohibited along much of Neelin Street, but the Town plans to extend the no-parking zone on the west side of Neelin from Lisgar Street to 27 metres north.
The adjustment will help ensure unimpeded access for paramedics responding to emergencies, while still allowing parking further north along the street.
