Smiths Falls council provided pre-budget approval to the Smiths Falls Police Service for CAD mapping enhancements after getting the go-ahead from the police board and committee of the whole.
Chief Jodi Empey said the system hasn’t been updated in over a decade.
Empey said the mapping also updates officer safety.
Empey originally sought to update the maps in 2025 but deferred the request to 2026.
