The Township of Rideau Lakes has made public the full cost of Integrity Commissioner investigations carried out over 2024 and 2025, revealing more than $59,416 in council-related expenses.
The disclosure comes under a mayoral directive issued by Mayor Arie Hoogenboom, requiring the release of all council-initiated legal expenditures.
According to the report, every councillor was the subject of at least two complaints over the two-year period. Paula Banks received the highest number, with five complaints, though two of those investigations found no wrongdoing. Other councillors, including Jeff Banks (3), Carr (3), Maxwell (4), Pollard (2), Dunfield (2), and Hutchings (2), each faced multiple complaints tied to Integrity Commissioner files.
Hoogenboom faced four complaints/investigation and was found in the wrong each time.
A post by Paula Banks included the number of reports which found no wrongdoing.
Two of Jeff Banks investigations concluded the same and one of each for Carr, Hutchings, and Dunfield.
The costs include invoices from ADR Chambers, Hunter Arbitrations, and Cunningham Swan, covering both active investigations and several withdrawn or non-investigated complaints.
The township continues to track Integrity Commissioner-related spending as additional files from 2025.
