Environment Canada has issued a winter weather travel warning for the 88.1 myFM and 92.3 WOW FM listening area as an Alberta clipper brings heavy snow and blowing snow today.
Forecasters say 15 to 20 centimetres of snow is expected, with visibility reduced at times in bands of heavier snow and gusty winds. The storm is forecast to begin this morning and taper off from west to east through tonight.
Ontario Provincial Police say they have already responded to a number of collisions and are urging drivers to slow down and leave extra space. Travel is expected to be challenging, with snow-covered roads, slippery sidewalks and a significant impact on the morning and evening rush.
Residents are urged to allow extra time for travel and monitor Environment Canada alerts and local media for updates. Severe weather reports can be shared on X using the hashtag #ONStorm. Officials say postponing non-essential trips is a smart choice.
