Since 1924, Toastmasters International has transformed nearly eight million lives through a simple, yet powerful, mission: empowering individuals to become more effective communicators and leaders. Perth resident Stephanie Drummond is spearheading the drive to bring a chapter of this well known and respected organization to Perth. Stephanie tells us what Toastmasters is all about.
What sets Toastmasters apart is much more than what a member learns, it’s how they learn. Every meeting is a safe opportunity to practice both planned speeches and unplanned responses, to give and receive meaningful feedback and to step into leadership opportunities. Stephanie gives us a peek into how a meeting works.
One of the most common fears that we have involves public speaking. This is why people who are good at it tend to stand out in a very positive way. Stephanie notes that improving our communication skills has far-reaching effects.
A launch meeting is scheduled for January 22nd in the board room of Perth’s Youth Services Hub at 1881 Rogers Road starting at 7 pm. A website is coming soon, but if you have any questions you can email Stephanie at stephaniedrummond27@gmail.com.
