The Canadian Centre for Food Integrity is launching a national campaign to help Canadians better understand the food system — from farms to processing to retailers.
In conversation with our Lynda D’Aoust, Executive Director Lisa Bishop Spencer says the initiative is all about building public trust and highlighting the importance of Canada’s food network.
The organization conducts ongoing research and outreach to maintain transparency and understanding across the country.
Many Canadians think only of farmers and grocery stores — but the food system is far larger than that.
Bishop Spencer notes that the food sector supports one in nine jobs and contributes more than $150 billion to Canada’s GDP.
The campaign, called Canada’s Food System: Our Food, Our Future, is designed to elevate the food system as a core Canadian pillar.
Bishop Spencer says the initiative uses TV ads, podcasts, and social campaigns to highlight the people, farms, and communities that keep food moving across the country.
