At Carleton Place’s annual volunteer appreciation event on Dec 13th, the Town’s newest Citizen of the Year was named following a tradition that dates back to 1974.
This year’s recipient was Julie Sadler for her work on the Carleton Place and Beckwith Heritage Museum Board and a wide variety of other volunteer contributions.
Julie has been on our Board since 2021 and currently serves as their treasurer.
She said she was shocked when she was called up to the podium to receive the award.
The Town’s first Citizen of the Year was David Findlay and the awards are determined by a committee made up of past winners.
Just being named to join that group was a special treat according to Julie.
The Citizen of the Year will attend a number of public functions and events throughout the year and act as an ambassador for the Town.
