Smiths Falls council heard from the Railway Museum of Eastern Ontario during their annual report.
Executive Director Becky Allen says they’re ecstatic with the 2025 attendance.
The museum also saw over 600 overnight guests in their Airbnb caboose which sits at a 5 star rating.
Mayor Shawn Pankow passed along his flowers on behalf of council.
The museum remains in desperate need of a roof with the board pegging the cost at $125,000. They’ve once again asked council for $50,000 of support in 2026.
Allen says with that support, they can cover the difference to pay for a new roof.
She said ideally it would be a steel roof but after receiving cost estimates in the range of $400,000, Allen concedes that’s a significant task for the museum.
