Smiths Falls police say a shoplifting investigation led to the seizure of counterfeit money.
Officers were called to a local business on December 3, 2025, after receiving reports of a shoplifter inside the store. Police responded and located the suspect exiting the building.
The individual was arrested without incident. During a search connected to the arrest, police seized six counterfeit $100 bills.
As a result of the investigation, 33-year-old Daniel Wright of Smiths Falls has been charged with theft under $5,000 and possessing counterfeit money.
Wright was later released from custody with conditions and a scheduled court date.
Police say the investigation remains ongoing.
