A five-year-old child has died after a weekend all-terrain vehicle crash in Renfrew County, Ontario Provincial Police say.
Emergency crews were called to a private property in Brudenell, Lyndoch and Raglan township on Saturday morning. Officers said the child was the only person operating a tracked ATV when it collided with a tree.
The child was wearing a helmet at the time of the crash. Paramedics rushed the child to a local hospital before an air ambulance transported them to a regional trauma centre. The child later died from their injuries.
OPP did not release the child’s gender or any other personal details.
A post-mortem has been scheduled to help determine the exact cause of death. Police say an investigation is ongoing as they work to understand how the fatal crash happened.
