An Ottawa resident is facing impaired driving charges following a traffic complaint in Mississippi Mills Township.
The Lanark County Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police says officers were called shortly after 7:15 p.m. on Saturday, Jan. 17, 2026, about a possible impaired driver on County Road 29. Police later located the vehicle and conducted a traffic stop after observing it travelling at inconsistent speeds.
The driver was arrested at the scene and transported to the OPP detachment in Carleton Place for testing.
As a result of the investigation, 49-year-old Angela Searson of Ottawa has been charged with operation while impaired, operation while impaired with a blood alcohol concentration over the legal limit, driving a motor vehicle with an open container of alcohol, and having care and control of a motor vehicle with an open container.
The accused was released from custody and is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Perth on Feb. 23, 2026.
Police say the driver’s licence was suspended for 90 days and the vehicle was impounded for seven days.
