The duo were caught on a hot mic exchange, first reported by lanarkleedstoday.ca, resulting in a 45 and 15 day paid suspension, respectively.
Brennan publicly apologized and then made a donation to the Heritage House Museum’s painting capital project, equal to 45 days of his salary.
McGuire wasn’t impressed.
McGuire wishes council went to the integrity commissioner’s office with this incident instead of reaching a solution internally.
Residents were highly critical of the punishments for the respective councillors, with some commentors calling them paid holidays.
