The 2026 Climate Action Workplan was brought forth for review by Lanark County council.
Climate and Environmental Coordinator Elizabeth Boldt says on tap for the year is hiring a consultant to help develop a plan.
The intent of the adaptation plan is to identify actions to enhance the county’s climate resilience.
Councillor Toby Randell expressed a thought after learning the county’s workplan includes a pilot project with the
Rideau Valley Conservation Authority.
The hope is the county will convince landowners to replace snow fence in high-wind areas with trees.
The county also learned there’s been over 720,000 trees planted on private property since the start of the one million trees program in 2020.
