The United Counties of Leeds and Grenville is providing an update on the operations of its Warming Centre in Brockville.
The centre, located at 166 Pearl Street East, welcomes an average of nine to 17 guests each night. Some individuals stay for the full evening, while others access the service for shorter periods, reflecting an ongoing community need.
Each overnight shift is staffed by one security guard and two service providers to ensure a safe and supportive environment, offering onsite assistance and connections to additional supports when needed.
The Counties thank community members, partners, and volunteers for their continued support of the Warming Centre and the individuals it serves.
Following a recent health inspection, the centre is now able to accept food donations, including pre-packaged food items and prepared foods from a health-inspected kitchen. An inspection certificate is required for prepared foods.
Those interested in volunteering must complete a registration and screening process, including an interview and a current vulnerable sector check. Approved volunteers will be added to the centre’s registered volunteer list.
Food donations and volunteer opportunities can be coordinated by emailing warmingcenter@uclg.on.ca.
