A Grade 5/6 Teacher at The Queen Elizabeth School in Perth has brought his hobby into the classroom curriculum.
Graeme McTavish has introduced knitting to his two classes, who then in turn craft warm winter hats which are later donated to newborns, emergency departments, youth centres and other organizations.
McTavish was discussing the “think globally, support locally,” mantra, which the students have taken on.
The teacher says the students learn as they go.
McTavish says there’s been nothing but support for the project.
