The Coldest Night of the Year began in Canada in 2011 to support charities serving those experiencing hunger, hurt, and homelessness. This year’s event in Carleton Place will see the proceeds going to Cornerstone Landing Youth Services. Their Elle Halladay tells us what it’s all about.
This year, Cornerstone is partnering with the Canadian Federation of University Women, Perth to help get the word out and provide hands-on help during the event. Past President of CFUW Perth, Brenda Ethier explains what her organization will be doing and why.
The walk starts at the Carleton Place Canoe Club at 179 John Street on Saturday February 28th with a check-in at 4 pm. Participants begin their 2 or 5 km walk at 5 pm and work their way back to the Club.
Halladay tells us where funds will go and why it’s so important to help the cause.
Everyone’s encouraged to gather pledges for their walk and to dress warmly for the event. Find out more and how to register and/or donate at cnoy.org/location/lanarkcounty
