Cornerstone Landing Youth Services is preparing for its biggest fundraiser of the year as the Coldest Night of the Year takes place this weekend.
Manager Elle Halladay says homelessness in rural communities is growing and often hidden from public view. Halladay told Lynda, we’re a nation in crisis.
The national walk supports local youth aged 16 to 24 who are at risk of or experiencing homelessness. Halladay told Lynda there’s a group being targetted for help in the local walk.
The walk takes place in Carleton Place, on Saturday (February 28)starting from the Canoe Club at 4pm on Saturday.
Members of CFUW are also supporting the effort and the goal is $40,000 for rent supplements and housing supports.
Halladay told Lynda there are many ways to support the cause.
Non-participants can still donate online. Click here to be brought to the official Coldest Night of the Year website. https://cnoy.org/location/lanarkcounty)
