The Carleton Place & District Memorial Hospital Foundation is supporting two new compassion-focused programs to help families experiencing child and infant loss.
The foundation is backing an expansion of the hospital’s Early Pregnancy Loss Program and the launch of the JR Memories Box Program at Carleton Place & District Memorial Hospital.
The Early Pregnancy Loss Program provides trauma-informed care for families experiencing loss under 20 weeks’ gestation. It includes a dedicated treatment room, private spaces, specialized nursing support and clear pathways to emotional resources. Families receive a Butterfly Box with comfort items and keepsakes.
The JR Memories Box Program supports families who lose an infant or child up to age 18. Each box includes a handmade blanket, stuffed animals, memory journal, handprint kits and other remembrance items.
Lianne Learmonth of the Mississippi River Health Alliance said the programs reflect compassionate care made possible through community support.
The initiative is supported by local partners and honours the legacies of Jett Gleason and Reese Olmsted.
