The Smiths Falls Police Service is inviting residents to take part in this year’s Polar Plunge, raising money for local Special Olympians and athletes across Ontario.
The fundraiser is part of the Law Enforcement Torch Run and returns for its fourth year in the community.
Smiths Falls Police Constable Sean Keogan says the event is focused on supporting athletes who benefit directly from the fundraising.
The plunge will take place Saturday, March 7, at Lower Reach Park, across from the Kinsmen Hall. Local fire services will be on site to prepare the ice and provide safety support for participants.
Keogan says people can join as individuals, teams or business groups, or simply donate online.
Keogan adds donations linked to a local Special Olympian help keep more of the funds in Smiths Falls to support local athletes.
