Christians around the world are coming together for World Day of Prayer.
The event, held locally in Perth on Friday March 6th, unites believers from many traditions in a shared worship service, highlighting how those in different countries and cultures interpret biblical passages in their own contexts. Organizers say the day fosters solidarity, understanding and a broader, deeper expression of faith through international prayer and reflection. Marleen Gomes of the local Interchurch Committee explains what the Day represents
In Perth, churches of all denominations unite for this powerful day of prayer and contemplation. Gomes notes who they are.
The World Day of Prayer traces its roots back to the 19th century and this year’s service was created in Nigeria and its theme is ‘I will give you rest: come’. Gomes notes it’s a genuine way to connect with Christians around the globe
