What is an art quilt? The ongoing art quilt exhibition “The Land Between” at the Perth & District Union Library will answer this question! The exhibition is on now until the end of March. Quilt artist Anita Payne De Gaia tells us of how the theme of the show is interpreted through quilt art.
Most of the pieces on display are small-canvass mounted artworks, but thanks to the great space in the library and the talent of the quilters, some larger pieces will be shown. Payne De Gaia tells us who the artists are.
The meticulous needle-work of the artists, combined with their visionary imaginations, help produce thread and fabric masterpieces that are often mistaken for paintings according to Payne De Gaia.
The exhibit is on now to the end of March. Payne De Gaia will host tours of the exhibit on Tuesday March 31 at 4 pm. On that final day of the exhibit, several of the artists will be at the library for a “Meet the Artists” event from 5 to 7 pm. To register for this event, visit the Perth & District Library event calendar: https://perthunionlibrary.libcal.com/calendar or call 613-267-1224.
