Smiths Falls Police Service is welcoming new officers and marking promotions as the department continues to grow and strengthen service in the community.
Two new police constables, Hannah Gazdik and Ryan Perrin, will begin as recruits this week. They will complete about a month of online learning before heading to the Ontario Police College for formal training.
Constable Sean Keogan says adding officers helps ease pressure on the service and creates new opportunities for proactive policing.
Keogan says more officers mean more time for proactive patrols, community engagement and targeted enforcement.
The service is also recognizing internal promotions. Brock Woods has been promoted to sergeant, while Dan King moves up to staff sergeant following the retirement of Nadine Milson.
Keogan says the mix of new recruits and experienced leadership reflects the service’s long-standing connection to Smiths Falls.
