A new exercise program aimed at improving balance and strength among older adults in Perth has proven so popular that its first session filled almost immediately.
The Strength in Motion and Balance program at the PEP Therapeutic Centre begins March 24, but Acting Executive Director Maureen Crook says demand has already exceeded expectations.
Organizers have added additional sessions running May 12 to June 16, including a new Friday afternoon option to accommodate interest.
Crook says the program focuses on leg, core and joint strength to help participants move safely and confidently at home and in the community.
Crook notes many people want to remain independent as they age, making fall prevention critical.
She also notes that its all possible thanks to a local organization that always puts community first.
The program is funded by the Perth and District Community Foundation, allowing residents to participate at no cost.
