Carleton Place council’s committee has approved the first round of funding for its 2026 Community Enrichment Program, allocating support to several local organizations and leaving funds available for a second intake later this year.
Council set aside a total of $47,000 for the program in 2026, including $12,000 in direct financial contributions and $35,000 in in-kind support such as facility use and municipal services.
Following a review of applications received during the first intake, municipal staff are recommending $28,225 in funding. That includes $17,247 in in-kind contributions and $11,428 in cash grants.
One notable request came from the Coldest Night of the Year fundraiser. Staff are recommending in-kind support through use of the Canoe Club facility, but not the requested financial assistance because the event has already taken place.
The Mississippi Lakes Association requested $1,000 to match contributions from neighbouring municipalities. Staff confirmed funding commitments from Beckwith Township, Drummond/North Elmsley and Mississippi Mills, and recommended the municipality maintain its usual $500 annual contribution.
Meanwhile, the Mississippi Mudds theatre group has requested $1,500 in in-kind support to offset rental costs at the Town Hall Auditorium, along with a subsidy through the grant program. Grants ranged from $200 to $1500 and were going to over 20 organizations.
After the first intake, $18,775 remains available. Applications for the second intake close August 28. Find out how to apply at carletonplace.ca/community-enrichment-program
