The Town of Smiths Falls has appointed Ingrid Bron as its new Economic Development and Tourism Manager.
Bron brings more than 17 years of experience in municipal economic development, tourism and planning. She previously worked for the Town of Smiths Falls as Economic Development Coordinator for more than two years.
After that, she spent six years in British Columbia as Director of Community Economic Development for the City of Revelstoke and the Columbia Shuswap Regional District Area B.
Chief Administrative Officer Malcolm Morris says the town is pleased to welcome back such an experienced candidate, noting Bron’s collaborative approach and passion for economic development will help strengthen the local business sector and support a more diverse economy.
Bron studied at Queen’s University and holds a Master of Urban and Regional Planning. She is also an active member of the Economic Development Association of Canada and the Economic Developers Council of Ontario.
Bron says she’s excited to return to Smiths Falls after gaining experience in B.C., adding the community shares similarities with Revelstoke, including a railway history and growing recreation and tourism sector.
