The Carleton Place Canadians squeaked into the CCHL postseason by two points, in a major season turnaround.
Head Coach Cole Burton said there was no Hollywood moment where the switch flipped, but a change in mindset.
Burton is in his first year with the Canadians, having spent the prior two years as head coach of the EOJHL Carleton Place Jr. Candians, leading them to consecutive Barkley Cup finals.
Despite winning only six of their first 24 games, Burton and his coaching staff remained patient in their messaging, as the head coach himself continued to learn.
They’re now off to the playoffs as the eighth seed following a midseason turnaround.
