Members of the Kinsmen take part in fundraisers for other good causes too
The Smiths Falls Kinsmen Club says it is welcoming new members as it continues more than five decades of volunteer work in the community.
Past president Beep Dalglish says the club has been active for over 50 years and remains strong, even as some members spend winters away.
One of the group’s major contributions is its hall in Lower Reach Park, which is rented to the public and donated to other non-profit groups for meetings and events.
Dalglish says membership has recently grown, thanks in part to community events held with partner organizations.
Anyone over 18 can join, though many current members are retired and able to volunteer regularly.
The club meets every second Monday for most of the year, pausing formal meetings during July and August while continuing project work.
Dalglish notes there is also a benefit to joining that isn’t offered everywhere.
Those interested can contact Beep directly at 613-880-4434.
Dalglish says the Kinsmen continue to focus on hands-on projects that support local residents and community groups, emphasizing that new members are always welcome.
