The Ontario government has launched a Request for Proposals (RFP) to redesign the busy and accident-prone intersection of Highways 7 and 41 in Kaladar. The move aims to improve road safety and traffic flow.
The RFP seeks qualified engineering firms to conduct detailed design and planning work. Once a successful proponent is selected, studies will guide the final construction plans and timelines.
We spoke with MPP Ric Bresee, Parliamentary Assistant to the Minister of Transportation, who says the intersection has long been identified as a safety concern, with numerous collisions and near-misses reported over the years.
Bresee says this project has been a long time coming.
The Ontario government is investing $30 billion in highway infrastructure projects across the province. The new design is expected to make the intersection safer for drivers and pedestrians while supporting local jobs and economic growth.
Further updates on the project will be shared as the RFP process progresses and construction plans are finalized.
